FAQs
Why is my pool water cloudy or has white deposits?
Possible causes:
- Limescale has deposited in the water
- Flocculation particles not completely filtered out
Solution:
- Adjust the pH value between 7.0 and 7.4 (using pH Plus or pH Minus as needed).
- For flocculated particles: Turn off the circulation system and wait approximately 10–12 hours until the residues settle to the bottom. These can then be removed with a floor vacuum.
-
Limescale deposits (white turbidity or a shimmering film on the water surface) usually disappear after correcting the pH value and adding a suitable flocculant.
- Important: Do not use with cartridge filters or filter balls – these can stick together!
- Perform a thorough backwash of the sand filter system . For cartridge filters: Clean the cartridge or replace it if necessary.
Why is my pool water green?
Cause: Algae growth due to insufficient disinfection or filter performance.
Solution:
- Check and adjust pH value.
- Use Bärensteiner Algicide regularly.
- Let the filter system run continuously, backwashing if necessary.
- In case of severe infestation: carry out shock chlorination or shock treatment.
Foam on the water surface
Cause: Organic contamination, soap residue, too high pH value.
Solution:
- Use surface cleaners or skimmers.
- Check pH value and adjust if necessary.
- Filter regularly and use water care products according to dosage.
Limescale deposits on walls or floor
Cause: Water hardness, incorrect pH value.
Solution:
- Adjust pH to 7.0–7.4.
- Use water softeners or anti-limescale products.
- Remove visible deposits with a brush or special cleaning agents.
Turbidity despite a clean filter
Cause: Fine particles, microalgae or chemical imbalance.
Solution:
- Test water: pH, chlorine/redox, alkalinity.
- Use flocculants according to the manufacturer’s instructions.
- Backwash filter thoroughly or replace cartridge.
Rust-brown discoloration
Cause: Metal ions (iron, copper) in the water.
Solution:
- Adjust pH value correctly.
- Use metal removers or special products against metals.
- Run the filter system and check the filter material if necessary.
Cloudiness after rain or strong wind
Cause: Washed-in dirt particles, dust or leaves.
Solution:
- Use skimmers and nets.
- Let the filter system run longer, backwash if necessary.
- Treat water with disinfectant, check pH value.
Unpleasant smell
Cause: bacteria, excess chlorine or organic residues.
Solution:
- Test water: Check chlorine, pH and alkalinity.
- Run the filter system and backwash if necessary.
- Chlorinate pool water or use algaecide.
